A Warm Welcome Awaits

When Libby first walked through the doors of our Community Café, she wasn’t sure what to expect. She’d passed the OPEN DOOR sign many times but never felt brave enough to step inside.

What she found surprised her—freshly made hot soup, the smell of stew, and a friendly smile at the door. Within minutes she was seated at a table, sharing stories and laughter with new friends.

By the time she left, Libby left more than an empty plate. She left with a sense of belonging.

That’s what our Open Door café is all about—a place where no one sits alone, and everyone is welcome.

A Place for Both

When Sarah, a first-time mum, walked into the Playgroup with her tiny daughter cradled in her arms, her heart was racing. Everything felt new- motherhood, the routines, even leaving the house with her baby. She worried she might not know anyone or that she wouldn’t fit in.

But as soon as she stepped inside, a volunteer greeted her with a warm smile and said, “We’re so glad you’re here. Can I help you get settled?” Another mum gently made room on the mat and introduced her little boy. Within minutes, Sarah’s daughter was surrounded by toys and giggles, while Sarah herself was offered a much-needed cup of coffee and an understanding ear.

For the first time in weeks, Sarah felt she wasn’t alone—she was part of a community that cared not just for her child, but for her too.

When she left that morning, Sarah carried the joy of connection and the reassurance that she and her little one were loved and welcomed.

A fun activity oriented time for primary age children on the last Monday of the month starting @ 3:30pm during the school term. It's all about fun, sparking creativity and connection. Parents welcome to join us for a cuppa or come back later, knowing it is a safe, exciting place for the kids !

Step into good health, good company and good conversation!

Our Men's walking group is a simple way to stay active, clear the mind and enjoy some social connection.

Every Tuesday and Friday 10am starting from the Grange Baptist Church and enjoying the walk along the beach!

Men of all ages and backgrounds are welcome!

And if it is raining- join in for a game or Chess or Carpet bowls!

A living hub of connection, where friendships are planted, skills are shared and harvests are enjoyed together!

Bring your expertise, green thumb and become a blessing to the whole community.

Caring for creation, building community and sharing conversations as we tend together in this wonderful city of ours.

We have a group of mostly ladies, who are happy to drop in for a chat or go for a walk with you.

You decide what suits you and we will find someone to spend time with you.

We know isolation and loneliness can be hard but we are here to help.
